The Autumn Peplum in Art Gallery Farbics Rayon

Erin Heane

My husband and I are off to Cambodia in a couple of days and I really wanted to make one more top to take over there but didn't want to have it come back and sit in my wardrobe until the warm weather comes along again.
I decided on the In The Folds peplum top which is a free pattern available to download from Peppermint Magazine.
I had made this once before out of an old cotton bedspread and have worn it to death over summer and loved the crop length, but as I was making this a trans seasonal piece for my wardrobe I decided on a few minor changes.
Before I go on, let's talk fabric for this peplum. I chose this awesomely stunning deep green with feather and leaf bordered Art Gallery Fabrics superior quality rayon. It's a match made in heaven for the cooler months ahead and matched with the peplum will be the ultimate layering piece with a long sleeve top underneath. The soft and buttery hand feel and gorgeous drape means it will also go nice under cardi's or a cute crop jumper.
To keep this peplum a little more winter appropriate I decided to length the main body by 5.0cm and lengthening the peplum by 2.0cm meant I could use the leaf border without chopping of a bit of the print.
This length is awesome and will be perfect when a long sleeve tee is underneath and even without one it fells great. I am also pretty self conscious about showing my belly but this length makes it super comfortable to wear.
In total love with this new peplum, the rayon will be perfect for the hot temperatures Cambodia is boasts and added length in the peplum means I don't have to worry about the beer belly I may or may not gain over there!
