I am so excited to blog for the awesomeness that is Brave Fabrics! Erin really stocks the coolest prints...
I have always wanted to get my hands on one of these amazing java prints and this one in particular really screamed out to me. It seemed perfect for the party season with its fun colour palette and a bit of gold shiny for the inner magpie.
When it arrived it felt different to other cottons I have used, so lovely and crisp!
I was worried that the gold might fade or do something weird in the wash but I chucked it in and it came out looking just as stunning and bright as before.
Then came the hard part... which pattern? What to make with this crazy print that is kind of a stripe and has a definite repeat... argh! I toyed with many ideas but in the end I just went all out and chose something with lots of details. The top half is Simplicity 2250 and the skirt  was taken from Butterick 6019. Twas a risky move but I actually quite like the end result, hello sassy party dress!
The fabric sewed like a dream and don't even get me started about how nicely it pressed... My husband is sick of hearing about it (jokes, he loves sewing talk). The fabric worked so well for this structured style but I could also see as a boxy top or even pants. Somebody please make some pants in this stuff!!!
I see more Vlisco in my near future, but this one needs a cocktail first...
